ACTRIS Center for Cloud Ice Nucleation
At IMK-AAF, we direct the Topical Center for Cloud In Situ measurements (CIS). Additionally, we facilitate one of the four CIS units, the Center for Cloud Ice Nucleation (CCIce).
CCIce is responsible for ensuring the quality of the atmospheric concentrations of ice-nucleating particles (INPs) measured in ACTRIS. This is achieved by measurements following particular guidelines and performing regular validation and calibration experiments, as well as the conduction of audits as part of the ACTRIS labeling procedure.
More detailed information on services and activities can be found on the CIS website.
The infrastructure of the center is currently under construction. Among other things, a new simulation chamber (AIDAs) is being constructed at KIT with the objective of providing optimal conditions for calibrations and comparative measurements of INP devices.
CCIce is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within the framework of the Strategy „Research for Sustainability" (FONA) (BMBF funding codes: 01LK2002B) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV).
