New DFG project in Atmospheric Surface Science
In August 2020, Dr. Abdelmonem received his prestigious “own position” grant from the DFG for the third time in a row. The project will tackle atmospheric surface chemistry on the molecular level using NLO spectroscopy. Project start date: 01.01.2021
Dr. Abdelmonem will study photochemical interactions at air/water interfaces including organic substances present in hydrosphere and atmosphere, using linear and nonlinear optical spectroscopy. The experimental plan is mainly based on probing organic layers at air / water interface under typical atmospheric conditions (e.g. temperature and solar irradiation). Several techniques will simultaneously be combined and a temperature controlled hybrid multiphase environmental chamber will be designed and manufactured for this purpose.
