Experimental program:
The first experiments will address the intercomparison/calibration of the different instruments under well defined conditions (e.g., static pressure and temperature, no aerosol/clouds). In a second phase experiments with clouds will address also questions of measuring total and interstitial water concentrations. Finally, the behaviour of the instruments for dynamic pressure and temperature changes will be investigated without and with clouds.
Ø A draft of the experimental program is given here.
Ø The experiments actually done are listed here.
Experimental
setup:
The instruments were connected to the AIDA chamber in three
different ways: The AIDA-TDL, FLASH B(1), JLH, and SnowWhite instruments were
set up for in situ measurements inside the chamber. The OJSTER-TDL, PicoSDLA,
and NCAR-Buck instruments were installed in cold flow tubes inside the
thermostated housing. All other instruments were connected to the chamber via
heated stainless steel tubes.
